I’m finally into my second trimester! And the crowd goes wild!!!
I never thought it would have been so hard for me to know when my second trimester began but apparently it is a somewhat debatable thing. Who knew? At first, I thought it was when you reached 12 weeks. Then I was told it was once you are through your 12th week and hit 13 weeks. Then I heard it was when you hit 14 weeks. I still don’t know which one is accurate. I do know I have started feeling immensely better so I know I am in my second trimester. You know the old rhyme “First is the worst, second is the best…”, definitely true of my trimesters so far. Though I am very scared of the ‘hairy chest’ part of the rhyme…
I feel like someone finally recharged my batteries. I rarely get sick to my stomach any more and I just feel more alert and focused now. Looking back on the last several weeks, it is almost like I had the flu. My body was aching as it was getting used to being pregnant, I was always sick to my stomach, and I was generally dazed and confused all the time. I’m sure the improvement in the weather has contributed to the mood lift as well. A nice sunny and warm day just makes you want to get outside and the time change has helped too because I am not coming home to pitch black at 6pm. It’s so light out that I have tricked my mind into thinking I took the afternoon off from work.
Outside of feeling radically better, nothing is really new. I have one more doctor’s appointment in two weeks before we schedule the big reveal ultrasound! Can you believe it? I can’t put into words how fast this pregnancy is flying by. Being sick was a pain but it still feels like it went by fast now looking back on it. We will definitely let you all know what the ultrasound tells us but make sure you place your votes before then!
Here is a funny (and I mean horrifying) revelation I made the other day while in the store. Screaming, crying children are terrifying. Back before I was pregnant, they were just annoying. Now, they scare the crap out of me. What if that is me in a year? Just trying to get through daily tasks without crying and without shipping the child to their grandparents. How am I going to survive that? What if we are the table that everyone in the restaurant glares at?!?! What if ‘sweet’ old ladies start coming up to me at the grocery store to offer me parenting advice since I clearly can’t control my child?!?! I know, I will just stay at home until they are 10 years old or only send them out in public with their dad. I think that is a very reasonable plan (or a very irrational way of handling the fear).
I promise I will try my hardest to not be that mom in the grocery store, or the family in the restaurant or on the airplane, but I just know it will happen at some point. I just hope I have the gumption to get through it and not just add to the crying and hysteria.
Ugh! I have the EXACT SAME fear all the time!! And at Starbucks when there's a mom and kid and the kid is just running around the store like an insane person. I love you!
ReplyDeleteAssuming you plan to dicipline the your child, these events will be few and far between. And when your dear little child does it, knows better, and still gives it their all - then you leave the scene and re-enter with child once both are composed. Or just cancel the show completely!
ReplyDeleteOR do what my mom does, and give "the hairy eye ball". That look that you know she will murder your butt and win any argument...the look that dares you to consider your life valuable. Worked all through my childhood...
