This post is going to be dedicated to wives tales about gender prediction. There are a lot of theories out there and I am testing as many as I can (i.e. the free ones). Andy and I have been entertained by watching the poll on this blog. The votes for boy took off right away and then the girl votes started gaining ground. So far, the boy votes have maintained the lead. I wonder why that is? Jeremy from work said it was because boys are simple. Needless to say, all the women in the room made a comment on the truth in that statement.
People have asked if I want a boy or a girl. People have asked if I have maternal instincts about Blueberry’s gender. Am I a bad pregnant woman since I don’t know? First off, Andy and I are amazingly impartial about the gender. Andy will say that he wants a boy but deep down he doesn’t care and neither do I. Before the pregnancy, I think we both would have said we want a boy but now that there is a little baby inside, growing and wiggling, it is impossible for me to care. I’m just happy to have Blueberry as my buddy.
Now, with all that said we can still have fun with guessing, right?
First test is the Chinese Gender Test. Oooooo. Ahhhhhh. This is a chart that uses the lunar age of the mother at the time of conception and the lunar month in which conception took place and then gives you the prediction. My fortune cookie says BOY. http://www.babygenderprediction.com/chinese-gender-chart.html
Second test is the heart rate gender prediction model. “They” say that if the heart rate is below 140 it’s a boy and if it is above 140 it’s a girl. At our 8 week sonogram the baby had a heart beat of 182 BPM. Second test says GIRL.
Third Test is the cravings test. They say if you crave sweets then you are having a girl and if you crave salty then you are having a boy. Since I can’t put down the cheese its and the olives, I’m gonna go with BOY.
Fourth, and final, test for this post is the wedding ring on a string test. This involves a wedding ring and a piece of string. Ta da. We used Andy’s wedding ring, standard white thread, and my belly. The theory is that if the ring rotates in a circular motion it is a girl and if it swings back and forth it is a boy. This left us laughing and guessing. I think the final result was BOY.
Final score is three for BOY and one for GIRL. But who really knows. Honestly, I’m excited for either.
To wrap up, today was not the best of days. I was back to basically the sick all day feeling. Yes, I visited the bathroom many a time but I was able to add to my list on the right. Yay for that! One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. I am praying for a much better day tomorrow.
Ooo that's a high heart rate! Both my boys were in the 150's. I'm saying GIRL!
ReplyDeleteWell, as I am SOOO experienced with being pregnant (I mean I AM 7 months along with my first baby :)) - I'm going with boy. Chinese Gender Prediction, cravings, and string theory all pointed to BOY for me. I'm having a boy. Heartbeat theory is just dumb. It said a girl for me, too. Also, heart rate is changing like every two minutes, and the bigger the baby gets, the slower the heart rate is so ... totally doesn't count. :)
ReplyDeleteI love you.
