My most favorite thing that baby is doing as of late is his habit of kicking or punching anything on my stomach when I am laying down on my back or reclining. I always interpret it as a karate chop to get stuff out of his space. If someone puts their hand on my stomach while I’m seated or lying down they promptly get a round-house kick to the palm. To which I quickly reply “Blueberry, don’t go ninjin’ nobody who don’t need ninjin”. Click here to get the reference.
He loves to kick books and he loves to kick drinks as I rest them on my stomach. I’ve started playing a little game at night when I read where I move my book around to different spots on my stomach and see if he can find it and sure enough he gives it a good whack every time. Over the holiday weekend we got to see Andy’s side of the family and I spent a good deal of time holding my new niece. She is a perfect, sweet little baby and I took so much enjoyment from soaking up every moment. Any time I was sitting with her on my lap or resting on my chest, Boy Blue (consistent as always) would give her a little one-two punch just to let her know he was there. It was extra cute when the kicks would wake her up a little bit and she’d open one eye as if to say “who's there?” and then drift back to sleep.
I can’t wait to see what their relationship will be like. We are so blessed to have these precious babies only 5 months apart and sometimes our family just smiles at each other as we all acknowledge the blessings God gives. We’ve already started planning the outfits we will dress them up in and all the games they will play together. Patriots Cheerleader and Quarterback was obviously the first one that came to mind. I hope they become good friends and share many fun memories together. I can’t wait!
In other news, we are very very close to deciding on a name for Baby Boy Blue. We spent a good deal of time sitting by the pool on Memorial Day discussing names and the one glitch we were having got cleared up (although it is stepping out on faith that we will have another boy down the road). We are kid people (which is different from child-like, and yes we are both) so we like the idea of a house full of kids, budget/health allowing. This makes for an interesting situation because we have several names that we like but you start to like them as they relate to the birth order. So, we have two names we like but one sounds more like an oldest child and the other sounds like a second oldest son. Now, if we don’t have more sons…. then there goes the plan. I think we have found a name that we are happy with no matter what though. Andy’s pretty ready to announce it to the world but I am still in the pondering phase. I have to meditate with the name a little longer before I can say that it is definitely going to be his name but I highly doubt anything is going to change our minds right now. I guess I am just getting cold feet. I admire my friends who so quickly are able to decide on a name. And then I think, what is wrong with me? Just pick a name!
So, I imagine that before long we will post the name here but who knows when that will happen. One of our dear friends from Liberty made us crocheted Christmas stockings as a wedding present and we recently saw her and she said that Blueberry’s stocking was almost finished. I almost cried right then. I have been picturing all the names on top of the stocking and I think the one we have settled on is going to look perfect. I just have to build up the courage to tell her what the name is.
To wrap up this post, my hair is really long and my tummy is getting pretty big. I had to take a picture for work this week and my friend snapped a picture that kinda shows my baby bump. Here it is:
It blows my mind how close we are to September. Summer is going to fly by. I print out my work calendar month-by-month on cardstock through Microsoft Word and I can keep 4 months up across my bulletin board at my desk. I just printed out September’s calendar yesterday and it freaked me out a little. I always pick a clip art item to put across the top of the calendar (i.e. snowflakes for January, hearts for February, US Flags for July) and when I went to pick out one for September I realized- this is baby month. So I found a cute pacifier and I pasted a picture of our last ultrasound in the date box for his due date. Baby is officially on my calendar. Now, if only I could start labor on Labor Day… that would be fun.
What a gorgeous picture! I can't wait to hear the name, I know it will be perfect!
